Neve Preamp Reviews

I know that it is not exactly the emulation of the 1073 pre, but I can't hear any difference! I compared it with 4 hardware units of Neve 1073 and... they are all different! All with the expected sound and character. The Neve Preamp plugin was great. Very happy about this plugin. The question is now: should I use the plugin while I am recording OR after tracking, applying the plugin while I mix? Sometimes I feel committed... some other times, especially when I record classical music, I prefer to relay on the converter quality of the Apollo unit and decide which "pre" plugin to use once I mix.

This is what I’ve been missing since I sold my Telefunken V376 mic preamps. That big fat smooth midrange, and larger than life sound is back. I didn’t know it could be done with a plug-in. Fabulous, fabulous work on this. I don’t miss my vintage mic preamp anymore. And…at only 12% dsp load, I can use a pair simultaneously in my Apolo Solo. Love this thing. Biggest game changer of any plug-in I’ve yet to purchase.

This has every harmonic saturation point that the hardware does, (I own the hardware - and this is just as amazing). An excellent plugin.

There’s a lot of fancy dynamics processors and vintage EQ’s out there, sometimes we get Dynamic EQ’s that are supposed to be the crossover point between the two processes, but every now and again something comes along with almost no controls, that’s designed for one job and one job only: making things Sound Better! The Neve Pre-Amp is one of those somethings. I love the rich silky mid/highs and the extreme yet precise low end.
